Getting to the Fourth

So I have not been posting as faithfully lately and I will address that soon but I want to go ahead and do my 4th of July post first.  We have ventured beyond Connecticut for the Fourth and are spending a week in West Virginia.  Why you ask, we have friends getting married in Charleston next weekend and since my family lives an hour away we decided to make a trip of it.

It was an extend trip to get down south (if you consider West Virginia south) involving multipule vechicals and multipule states.

Our flight was out of Laguaradia so that meant first we had to train into the city.  (Parking at the airport is something like $15 and that is way too much.

On the Train

Sadly the train does not run to airport which meant a quick change to the NYC bus system.
On the Bus
I really like flying out of LaGuardia. US Airways has their own terminal so it is one of the quickest security checks I have been through, didn't guess that did you.

Plane 1
Sadly no direct flights from NYC to Huntington, WV.  So we had to make a connected in Charlotte, so not only did we pass by our finally destination we were also an hour and half from Greensboro. So close yet so far away.

Plane 2
Planes to Huntington are always tiny. I think how tiny and how loud was a bit of a suprise to Daniel but some how they always make it.

Car 1
My mom came to pick us up at the airport so at that point we had completed the Planes, Trains and Automobiles trifecta.

Huntington was actually only a pit stop as we were spending the Fourth with my sister and her finance (engaged last week!) in Lexington KY so a different car.

Car 2

We leave my mini copper at my parents over the summer so it was great to have a car available to us this week.   After two more hours in transit we had arrived.

The Fourth was a fun day of catching up, grilling out, and watching fireworks.  We watched the fireworks from the top of a parking garage.  I made plenty of Kentucky jokes about this to my sister only to realize it was a really great vantage point.

We were able to see several shows from our seat.

Happy Belated Fourth of July!
